Wedding Band or Wedding D.J?You only get one chance to make that special day perfect. From photos to flowers, and with food and seating to contend with, choosing the music that will inevitably be the soundtrack to the start of your life together, shouldn't have to be a grueling task. The big question is, "Do I hire a disk jockey or should I book a live band?" Bands versus DJs, the decision can be as confusing as your cake flavor choice. There are many things to consider when you are planning what kind of musical entertainment to go with at your wedding reception party.
Having a disk jockey at a wedding reception party is the modern standard, mainly because of the versatility of such a choice. A D.J., with access to the internet, is capable of collecting unlimited amounts of music, allowing them to easily bring a gigantic and customized catalog of the songs. It will literally be difficult (with the amount of resources that the modern disk jockey has at his fingertips) to "stump the D.J." Along with their ability to carry huge music libraries with them, the wedding D.J. is usually a less costly alternative to hiring a live band. If you do decide to hire a live band for your wedding reception, there are a few things that you will need to think about and do. You will need to "audition" your potential entertainment. This may mean that an entire weekend will be need to be set aside to listen to at least 5 bands perform. If you do this, you will be able to get a sense of what they will be able to bring to the table, by way of entertainment value. You want your band to not only be able to play dance music and take requests from wedding guests of all ages, but also be ready to perform some instrumental dinner music. They should also be willing to do all of your announcements, something that the D.J. would have been doing. The advantage to having a band at your wedding reception is that your party will not be soon forgotten. Having a band, though the more expensive choice, is also the road less taken, and will ensure that your guests remember your evening as unique. Live music may be your preference, but there will be more work in choosing a band and it will be more costly. | ||
