How To Preserve Wedding Memorabilia

Once a wedding is over, it is time to gather memorabilia. This is a great way to remember one of the most important days in your life. However, you want to make sure to go about preserving these items the right way. You can't just place them on a shelf for 20 years. Instead, consider the following preservation tips.

Wedding Bouquet

Everyone knows the scrapbooks and photo albums are a great way to remember an event, but not everyone knows how to make these items so that images and pressed flowers last a lifetime. Firstly, make sure you save both the negatives and copies of the photos. Place the negatives in a safe place like a safe deposit box. This way, if anything happens to the wedding album, you can replace the images. Next, make sure that any wedding album you make uses archive-level paper. This protects the photos from fading and age.

Because today's day and age is one based around technology, consider transferring the images and video onto a CD. This will allow you to edit the images. Additionally, it gives a couple a nice back up plan in case an album or box of memorabilia is lost or damaged. If the materials are saved online, you and anyone you choose can see them.

Saving your wedding dress is important, since it played such a vital role in the event. However, don't just throw it in the back of a closet. Instead, invest in an acid free box. This will save the dress from discoloring or fraying. Additionally, consider having it professional sealed. This will ensure the dress is in tact so that it can be passed down generation after generation.

Additionally, think about saving everything from banners to napkins to cake toppers. Find a box that is airtight, make sure the items are clean, and store them in a safe place. These items are a great way to remember the event in its entirety.
