DIY Wedding Ideas: The Dos and Don'ts of Do-It-Yourself

When planning a wedding, it can be very affordable for you to take on some of the responsibilities of wedding yourself, rather than hiring a professional to do it instead. However, not every wedding project should be done by the wedding couple or family. Some projects should be left up to the professionals. While it can be more expensive, it will also save you time to concentrate on other wedding items.

Do it yourself wedding ideas

Wedding favors are perhaps the easiest and best wedding project that you and your circle of family

and friends can take on. Not only will it save you money to do it this way, it is not as hard as you may think to put together some wedding favors.

There is nothing like thoughtful and personalized decoration, no matter the venue. Whether it is a Britannia Hotel ballroom or a beautiful garden, adding special touches of your own will make all the difference. Why not make it that much more special, for such a magical day? There are many options available, such as tiny bubbles with ribbons on it or centerpieces containing a floating candle in a fishbowl of water. You can also take on the project of decorating the wedding and reception hall. This can be done the night before with helium balloons, streamers, decorative tables with confetti and bowls of snacks.

When it comes to the food, this should be a catered event rather than one you choose to cook yourself. It is nearly impossible to create hot food on the day of your wedding as you're busy with the event yourself and there just is not enough time to do it all. Hire professionals to take care of the work for you, even if it is more expensive than having family members do it for you. You'll also want to choose a venue that is used to having weddings rather than trying to save money and have it in a backyard or a park. Guests will think this is tacky and it will not add to the appeal of your special day.

The music can go either way. If you know someone who has professional equipment, such as a family member or close friend, it would be a great idea to ask them to be the DJ for you. This will save you time and still be efficient. However, if you do not know anyone like this, do not attempt to save money and use a disc changer or a boom box. It is a better idea in this case to hire a professional DJ. After all, your guests want to enjoy themselves at the reception and having a DJ with good music is the perfect way to do this.
