| My Perfect Wedding in JamaicaIt was in 2006, although it seems like yesterday, that my daughter was married at the Silver Sands Villas, in Jamaica. We had the beautiful wedding at the Rum Jetty House, an English simulated castle. All of the properties in Silver Sands are private homes. They all come with staff that is there for your every need. We arrived a week before the wedding and was able to get everything done prior to the glorious wedding day.
My daughter had dreamed of an outdoors ocean wedding, and that is just what she got. We were able to secure a minister, who understood all of the necessary steps we needed to complete, in order to get a license for the wedding to be legal. We met with him on our second day there so that we could go over all of the plans. The staff at the home prepared the wedding feast with local foods from the area plus that delicious rum punch. They even had the traditional Jamaican wedding cake for the reception that took place right on the beach. We flew into Montego Bay, and after picking up our luggage, we were directed to the place where transportation was waiting. We found our driver, loaded the van, and away we were whisked through the streets of Jamaica. The ride was a little over an hour. We had a chance to see some of the real Jamaica as we traveled the roads the locals travel. Silver Sands is located half way between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. The property has guards in the front, so that you have the feeling that you are in a secure area. Rum Jetty, where we stayed, had beautiful flora, a gorgeous front yard, and of course its own private beach right on the ocean. There is also a walkway that runs out into the ocean and ends up at a beautiful gazebo. My daughter had the dream wedding she always wanted. A bonus for us, in preparing for the wedding, was that the upstairs of the Villa was dormitory style. All of my daughter's friends from school were able to stay at the same house. Yes, it was a little over three years ago that we had the wedding in Jamaica, but when I look at my year old granddaughter, the wedding was just the beginning of a wonderful life. | ||||||
