Getting Married in Mexico

Mexico, in my opinion is the best place to be married. I speak from personal experience. The hotel Camino Real in the heart of Mexico City was the venue. With the friendliest people on earth in this country, the wedding went off without a hitch. The hotel provided the padre and all the amenities were reasonably priced. No one to my knowledge took ill as the theory of Moctezuma's revenge goes. The tequila had the traditional worm. What more can you ask for?

Forget about the bandits and Narcotrafficantes controlling the city. It makes good copy for the newspapers back home, but in reality if you compare the amount of murders here in the USA, we have nothing over the Mexicans. It was summer yet the rainy season spared us any major storm. Since Mexico City is quite high in altitude it has a temperate climate year round. The next day, honeymoon or not we went outside the city to see Popocatepetl, the smoking mountain volcano. Unfortunately, the Mexican pyramids were destroyed by the Spaniards but we also visited this famous and historic complex of rebuilt structures near Mexico City.

A couple days later aboard Mexican Airlines we jetted to Acapulco. A beautiful area to relax, especially at the bar of the Hotel President. The beach was a bit full of vendors, but without them the flavor of Mexico would be lost. We danced the two nights away with a mariachi band leading the way. The dollar still goes far in Mexico. Not here either, was their a sign of the drug lords plying their trade.

Another stop was the historic city of Puebla, where the French Emperor Maximilian met his fate, hence the holiday of Cinco de Mayo. Get married in Mexico is my advice. There is hardly a place with a hotel that will not make your wedding and honeymoon an unforgettable event. Fly your relatives there or fill the place with the locals. The locals will send you off with a blessing and lots of good luck. The luck has remained with us ever since and are considering going through the whole routine again in Cozumel, on the Yucatan Peninsula.

Viva Mexico!
